Chinas foreign trade exports will grow in 2022

The State Council Information Office held a press conference. According to relevant officials of the General Administration of Customs, China's foreign trade will achieve new breakthroughs in 2022, with simultaneous improvement in the scale, quality and efficiency of import and export, and steady growth of foreign trade.

Customs statistics show that the total value of China's foreign trade in 2022 was 42.07 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.7 percent over 2021. Of this, exports reached 23.97 trillion yuan, up 10.5%; Imports reached 18.1 trillion yuan, up 4.3%.

According to customs statistics, in 2022, China's foreign trade structure continued to be optimized, with imports and exports of general trade reaching 26.81 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.5% over 2021. China's imports and exports to ASEAN, EU and US reached 6.52 trillion yuan, 5.65 trillion yuan and 5.05 trillion yuan respectively, up 15%, 5.6% and 3.7% respectively. Asean continues to be China's largest trading partner, accounting for 15.5 percent of China's total foreign trade.

During the same period, China's imports and exports with countries along the Belt and Road totaled 13.83 trillion yuan, up 19.4 percent from 2021. China's imports and exports with the other 14 RCEP members totaled 12.95 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.5 percent over 2021.
